Asylum Outdoor Lighting


My main focus today was on the lighting. The lighting in my last game was rushed, and I didn't put too much thought into it. This was mainly because the game was free, and I figured people aren't paying for it so they shouldn't have expectations for good lighting, it was serviceable at best. In my new game, I want the lighting to be superb. In this setting, lighting will play a crucial role in setting the mood, and I'm taking steps to make sure that's true. What you're seeing now is early-development lighting, street lamps will illuminate the path through the woods to the asylum. I'm using some special techniques to add in these effects, and in the future I'm looking into raytracing. Overall, things are going well. I don't yet have an idea of when release will be.
